Queens University Belfast – MBC Borewell

Client: Queens University Belfast – MBC Borewell

Dowds Group completed works comprising of the installation of a new water treatment system with break tanks in the MBC Borewell Plant room, and the removal of existing booster sets and pumps. All associated Civil, Mechanical and Electrical works were included in this project.  A new HPPE pipe from the borehole into the new plant room was laid following associated excavation around the front of the building and back filling.  Disconnection of the existing mains water supply into the building and provision of a new mains water supply into the new tank room. All works were carried out when the building was occupied, so particular attention was required to separate all work areas from the Staff and Students who were attending the college.  All works were completed in a timely manner and the college grounds left in pristine condition.

Bedford House

Client: Bedford House – Ulster Estates

Dowds Group have completed extensive works within Bedford House for Ulster Estates. Works are currently on-going but to date we have completed the refurbishment of the new entrance and reception, mezzanine areas and the refurbs of Levels 2 (Marsh Mercer), 3 (ARUP), 6 Ernst Young) and 8 (Causeway Assent Management).

Most recently we have completed the installation of a new Building Fire Alarm System, a new LED lighting scheme for the car-park,  Ventnor’s Café, The New Conference Suite and the New Skytrain Gym with its impressive views over Belfast on Level 9.

We are currently refurbishing the full M&E building infrastructure including the upgrade of the ventilation installation and rooftop plant, water storage & heating systems and full refurbishment of all toilet facilities.

 

 

 

Dunnes Stores, Forestside

Client: Dunnes Stores

Working alongside main contractor Graham Interior Fit-Out, Dowds Group Integrated Services team completed M&E works on Dunnes Stores, Forestside.  The works comprised the phased enabling, alterations and refurbishment works to the existing ground, first floor and mezzanine level of the department store, to bring it in line with Dunnes’ flagship store specifications.  This involved the complete refurbishment of the front of house shop floor areas and alterations and extensions to the existing back of house areas.

The store had to remain operational throughout the works and necessitated the enabling and phasing of works to avoid affecting the day-to-to operations of the busy store.

 

 

Citi Bank

Client: Citi Group

The sub-contract includes of the supply, delivery, installation, testing & commissioning of the complete mechanical services installation associated with fit-out of Citi Bank’s offices based in the Gateway Offices at Titanic Quarter, Belfast.

We were responsible for the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning all items necessary for the completion of the works, including the plumbing services, soils and wastes systems, sanitary installation, fresh, return and extract air, VRV/VRF comfort heating and close control air conditioning. In addition, we installed the gas fire suppression system and the automatic controls installation

 

Queens University, Belfast

Client: Queens University, Belfast

We were the main contractor for the refurbishment of the Elmwood Avenue plant room for QUB which supplies heat to a number of buildings and departments within the University, including Guthrie House, the Learning and Teaching Centre and the School of Geography, Archaeology and Paleoecology.

The new boilers installed provided fast and efficient heating for the various and not only integrates this plant room into the wider QUB system but also provides a detailed focus on energy usage.

Building works consisted of structural openings through walls to facilitate the installation of new boiler flues / air intake louvres.  In addition, we carried out a complete renovation of internal walls and floors,  installed new load bearing plinths for plant, fitted new door openings and made minor alterations to the structure to facilitate removal of old and installation of new plant.

 

SONI (Systems Operator for Northern Ireland)

SONI (Systems Operator for Northern Ireland) is responsible for the safe, secure, efficient and reliable operation of the High Voltage system throughout Northern Ireland. SONI is the licensed independent electricity Transmission System Operator and Market Operator of the Single Electricity Market wholesale trading system.
As main contractor we were responsible for the design, supply and installation of primary electrical distribution equipment including all associated civil and building works. Additionally we had to remove the existing and replace the switchgear without disruption to SONI’s daily operations.
