Altnagelvin Hospital – Radiotherapy Unit

We are currently onsite on the Radiotherapy project at Altnagelvin Hospital.  The  new build unit will consist of a 6 floor structure with services, a plant area, car parking for staff and patients, ambulance drop of point, Electrical LV and HV rooms, a new Radiotherapy unit with Linear Accelerators and MRI scanner, refurbished and extended Chemotherapy area, Radiotherapy Bed area, admin area and roof top plant rooms.

Finnebrogue Factory Refurbishment & Extension

Dowds Group were entrusted by artisan food producer Lynn’s Country Foods to design and build the complete M&E services in their new state of the art food manufacturing facility at their plant in Finnebrogue, Down Business Park Downpatrick.

The new factory has been built on a 6 acre site, a project that comprised the conversion and extension of an existing 1069m2 warehouse, increasing the building to 3700m2 during phase one and then further extended under phase two, the completion of which sees the factory standing at a staggering 14,500m2.

The building now provides Finnebrogue with process mix rooms, production halls, equipment wash rooms, cold rooms, chilled storage, dry goods storage, spice prep, engineering workshops, automated packing and warehousing, a complete energy centre housing load centre, mechanical plant, hot water generation plant (with. heat recovery) and chiller plant plus full administration and technical support office and staff changing facilities.

 

Merseycare TIME Project

The complex design and build project involved the replacement of an existing site deemed old and unfit for Mersey Care NHS Trust’s vision in tackling mental health.

The new modern, mental health in-patient facilities, offers 85 ensuite bedroom accommodation over Psychological ICU, Older Adult and Dementia wards, with 24hr access to safe outside space and activity/ therapy areas.

Other facilities in each unit will include office accommodation and interview rooms for the access/ acute care teams and crisis resolution home treatment teams, occupational therapy and activity spaces, learning and education spaces, family rooms, spiritual healthcare space and social enterprise cafe.

The mechanical systems installations included LTHW, boilers, under-floor heating systems, ventilation, MVHRs, fans, air conditioning and Dx condensing units, domestic water services, an external irrigation system, soil and waste services, thermal insulation, gas protection, BEMS and sanitary ware.

 

Harris Sixth Form, Westminster

This project involved an internal refurbishment over three storeys of an existing building to provide accommodation for up to 600 pupils.  The facilities include state of-the-art science labs, a library, and study areas in addition to classrooms, music rooms, an art studio and seventh floor refectory.  Throughout the project we worked closely with the main contractor and staff at Westminster College in order to accommodate the services installation in adherence to the accelerated construction programme.

Throughout our installation, we had to make allowances for the busiest of city centre locations such as delivery plans and noise management plans.  We had to liaise closely with the M&E coordinator to ensure sufficient time allocations were made for commissioning works.

 

Altnagelvin Hospital, Endoscopy Suite

We installed the mechanical and electrical services at the new Endoscopy Suite in Altnagelvin Hospital.  The project consisted of a refurbishment of the existing Day Hospital within the South Block building and the construction of a satellite building linked to the refurbished day hospital area via two link corridors.

The new 320m2 extension houses Recovery Suites, Wash Facilities and Staff Areas, as well as a new dedicated plantroom at roof level to accommodate the associated ventilation plant and equipment.  The old 600m2 Day Hospital area now includes three Endoscopy Procedure Rooms and associated Clean and Dirty Scope Rooms, as well as Reception, Patient Interview Facilities and Changes Prep Rooms.

 

The Rosie Perinatal Unit

We were tasked with the complete M & E works on this 7,968sq.m facility. It comprises of of 10 birthing suites, a 28 cot Critical Care Neo-natal intensive care unit, a 30 bed sick childrens birthing unit all with complex services including dual medical gas and power systems, a MRI unit and 10 birthing pool suites together with Fetal Medicine and Day Assessment Units.

 

Aurora Pool & Leisure Complex

The 15,374sq.m facility included the Olympic sized 10 lane swimming pool incorporating two moveable floating floors and two submersible booms, a 25m diving pool, a themed family fun area including a wave pool, water slides, flumes, interactive water play features and bubble pools, a health and fitness suite, a conditioning suite, an 8 court main sports hall, a cafe, 2 function rooms, a minor sports hall, 2 squash courts, a creche, children’s soft play area, changing facilities for 6 outdoor football pitches.

 

Titanic Hotel, Liverpool

This multi-use development was completed within the old Stanley Dock Tobacco Warehouse. The dock is within Liverpool’s World Heritage site & the warehouse is one of the largest brick built warehouses in Europe.
The 20,500sqm hotel refurb consists of 4 floors with 156 large suites, lobbies, bars & restaurants.
Also included in the contract is an 816sqm open to the general public. The spa includes a spa pool, steam room, sauna, foot spa, massage showers, treatment rooms and gym.
Facilities also include an 1,110sqm dockside banqueting hall and 1,400sqm conference facilities, with these areas heavily serviced in terms of ventilation & dedicated AHU’s.

 

Monaghan Education Campus & Theatre

A new multi-user, 5 building educational campus located on the site of the former Military Barracks.  The schools included sports halls, 250 seat theatre, multiple classrooms & teaching spaces complete with hygiene facilities for nursery, primary & post primary, covered courtyards, dining & social concourse areas, kitchen, storage areas & outdoor gym.  Detailed testing and commissioning programmes were developed in conjunction with the M&E Coordinator to ensure commissioning was optimised to suit the individual project and pattern of use for the buildings.  A fully demonstrated handover to design team, end user and building control was carried out to ensure that all fully understood the installed systems and their potential.
