Business Development Manager (LONDON)


We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join Dowds Group with a key focus on developing the brand awareness across London and UK, targeting our end user clients, professional teams and market sources to develop our project pipeline intel.

The Role:

The role will involve working with the directors to enhance our current business development strategy and ensure it fits with the overall company strategy. Key aspects of this will be to drive sustainable growth for the company and to build our brand and will be London/GB focused and be based from our Kings Cross office in London.

The successful candidate will have the following duties:

  • Develop and promote the Dowds brand by actively seeking out and reporting on any prospective business leads.
  • Own and develop our project pipeline document to ensure live intelligence of schemes in desired sectors
  • Ongoing market research and development of marketing intelligence to enhance the success rate of tenders and work secured.
  • Develop and lead sector and client business and marketing plans
  • Review and report on future opportunities and identify key drivers for our clients
  • Contribute, innovate and add value to our Business Development approach.
  • Working with the team, develop and manage an up-to-date understanding of the macroeconomic environment over the agreed plan period
  • Enhance our operational business development capabilities and work with the team to support the achievement of our winning work targets
  • Be able to take the lead on client relationships
  • Develop strategic partnerships and attend business networking opportunities.
  • Identify client key decision makers and through engagement and collaboration with them
  • Develop knowledge of specific client operations, culture and contractor preferences and use this knowledge to enhance our competitiveness.
  • Gather customer feedback progressively throughout the whole business cycle and report this internally to allow continual improvement.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualification in Construction Management or proven in sales sector
  • Ideally solid understanding of the construction industry
  • Understanding of important factors to consider when selling into construction companies
  • Driven and ambitious nature
  • Confident working to targets and deadlines
  • Confident and capable communicator, comfortable in a range of environments.
  • Experience in managing a team with ability to coach and motivate direct reports and wider team to deliver to agreed business plan.
  • Experience of relationship building in the construction environment with clients
  • Knowledge of managing a CRM system and pipeline / sales intel
