Dowds Group successfully delivered a comprehensive Mechanical and Electrical installation for the V&A’s prestigious new collection storehouse in Stratford, London. This 172,222 sq. ft. world-class facility reimagines museum storage, creating a public-facing storehouse that integrates high-spec conservation with immersive visitor experiences.

Spanning 16,000m², this purpose-built facility was engineered to house a diversity of cultural heritage, including over 250,000 objects, 350,000 library books, and 1,000 archives. The scope of works involved the fit-out of specialised conditioned collection storage rooms, conservation studios, and technical workshops, all requiring stringent environmental parameters to protect a collection ranging from delicate textiles to large-scale sculptures. Beyond storage, Dowds delivered robust M&E infrastructure for the facility’s public-facing elements including flexible exhibition and performance spaces, workshops, education zones, a café, and a welcome area.
