Dowds Group successfully delivered a complex £13M Building Services contract for the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at Coventry University. Completed on time and to budget for a July 2023 handover, this ambitious project combined large-scale new-build construction with the intricate refurbishment of existing landmark university structures.

The redevelopment was a multi-faceted undertaking designed to modernise the university’s creative spaces. The scope included the construction of a new four-storey teaching facility adjacent to the School of Art and Design, providing cutting-edge environments for the next generation of artists and designers. Simultaneously, Dowds managed the extensive refurbishment and remodelling of three existing buildings: the four-storey Maurice Foss building, a specialised art and design workshop, and the seven-storey Graham Sutherland tower. The M&E integration required a bespoke approach for each structure, ensuring that the new high-performance systems worked in total harmony with the remodelled heritage fabric to create a unified, high-tech campus environment.
