Dowds Group delivered an extensive and highly complex M&E services package for the landmark £36.4M redevelopment of the A-listed Aberdeen Art Gallery. This prestigious project revitalised one of Scotland’s finest granite buildings, transforming it into a world-class cultural hub that was crowned Scotland’s ‘Building of the Year’ in 2021.​

The transformation of this Victorian-era gallery focused on reimagining previously unused areas to create 21 new exhibition galleries and educational spaces. Dowds Group was responsible for the comprehensive upgrade of all building services and environmental performance systems, ensuring the gallery could host more treasures than ever before while providing vastly enhanced visitor and study facilities. The scope extended beyond public-facing areas to include critical infrastructure for improved art handling, specialist storage, and back-of-house facilities. Every aspect of the M&E installation was executed with extreme precision to preserve the heritage of the A-listed building.​
