MARKET RESEARCH ANALYST – GRADUATE OPPORTUNITY

Summary:
Dowds Group have an exciting opportunity to bring a talented Graduate into their award-winning business as a Business Development Researcher.
This role is supported by the Invest NI Graduate to Export Programme, which aims to connecting innovative companies with highly motivated graduates interested in building a career in marketing and experience in working in international markets.
After spending 6 months in the Ballymena HQ to fully immerse in Dowds business development strategy, processes and culture, the role will expand to conducting research, analysing data, and developing solutions to support business development activities in new markets and will involve relocation or frequent travel to our London base.
In addition, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to attain a Post-Graduate Diploma in International marketing from Ulster University to further support their personal development.
The ideal candidate will have a critical mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply a consultative approach to engage with stakeholders.
The Role:
Market Research & Analysis
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential markets, customer segments, and emerging trends.
- Analyse competitor activities, strengths, and weaknesses to gain a competitive edge.
- Evaluate market opportunities and assess their potential for growth and profitability.
Client Relationship Building:
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Networking and attending industry events to expand the company's reach.
- Assistance with Sales & Business Development:
- Generating leads and preparing proposals.
- Presenting company services to potential clients.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Tracking sales performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Preparing reports and presentations on business development activities.
- Gather and analyse data from various sources to support research findings.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and summaries of research findings.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to inform decision-making processes.
Other Duties:
- Identify opportunities via online client portals & tender notices
- Develop a good understanding of awarding authorities’ vision, strategy and plans in order to maximise new business generation opportunities
- Management of company profiles on portals
- Management of CRM system
- Contributing to the development of new products or services.
- Collaborating with other departments within the company, particularly Estimating, Preconstruction and Communications teams.

Person Specification:
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, awarded within the last 5 years
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to relocate outside Northern Ireland (foreign language skills are desirable, but not essential).
- A working knowledge of AI tools and technologies is highly desirable, with an expectation to engage with emerging digital solutions as part of ongoing development.
- Pre-existing legal status to live and work in Northern Ireland
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software.
- Presentation skills.
- Negotiation skills.
Experience:
While a graduate role, some prior experience in sales, marketing, or customer service can be beneficial.
